Cross Laminated Timber Shed

Quincy, California

/

Completed

This project is California’s first fully cross-laminated timber (CLT) building: a Biomass Boiler Facility in Plumas County that provides heat and power to the nearby Health and Human Services campus. Built from large prefabricated CLT panels, the structure was erected in a single day, showcasing mass timber’s efficiency and precision. The system couples a biomass boiler with a small-scale power generator, converting organic waste into energy. Exposed CLT surfaces—inside and beneath the roof eaves—highlight the building’s material honesty and its role as a sustainable, first-of-its-kind prototype in California.
